Creating and setting up a topology

The first stage in the development of any computer network is to design its topology – a network topology is a diagram that shows what will be connected within a network to what and how. Conception of a network is a key stage – every flaw is much harder to detect and correct once the system is already set up and configured. During network planning (and later) it is important to:

  • Consider all network parameters and functions such as number of users, user knowledge of network security, network security level, budget, etc.
  • Have a plan for different disaster scenarios – incorporate redundancy as a safety mechanism into the network
  • Consider the projected changes (growth) of the network over time so that it can expand easily
  • Document all aspects of the network in detail which significantly reduces the possibility of an error
  • Standardize equipment – take network equipment from one manufacturer for maximum compatibility and minimum maintenance costs

Of course, once the network is designed, the equipment needs to be procured and physically set up and then configured, and you can leave it all to our team!
